About our Instructors

Judy Irish

Since graduating with a degree in Art, Judy has taught Art and Quilting from New York to the Pacific Northwest. In addition, she quilts for many internationally known quilt artists such as Kaffe Fassett, Liza Prior Lucy, Marilyn Doheny, Freddie Moran, and others. Judy enjoys creating an environment for students that is fun, supportive, and stress-free. We are fortunate to have Judy teaching at Cascade Fabrics.

Elinor Nakis

Elinor has been sewing on a sewing machine since she was 7 years old.  She learned to sew from both her mom and dad.  Elinor started to sew by hand to make simple dolls clothes but quickly learned how to use a sewing machine and has been sewing ever since.
She has taught many people including many children how to sew over the years and has just recently started teaching at Cascade Fabrics.  Besides sewing, she also cleans and fixes sewing machines. She will also be teaching sewers how to maintain their own machines.

Rachel Ferguson

Rachel is self taught and has been sewing for 8 years. She has always been a lover and collector of historic and vintage items. She likes to repurpose vintage linens, trims, and fabrics collected “out in the wild,” at thrift shops and estate sales. You can find some of Rachel’s items at the Lido Collective Art Gallery in Mount Vernon and The Lucky Dumpster in Edison. We are fortunate to have Rachel living right here in Sedro-Woolley and teaching at Cascade Fabrics.

Shirley Rock

Shirley is a watercolor artist and quilter. She has combined the two to paint on fabrics. She has taught many classes including a block of the month.  Shirley is also skilled as an applique quilter, featuring ‘needle turn’ applique and has won ribbons for her creations. She is always reaching for new art forms. Her love of fabrics and paint are boundless. We are happy Shirley is teaching at Cascade Fabrics again.
